How To Calculate Percentage Of Non Overlapping Data Points
To calculate the percentage of non-overlapping data points, you need to understand how to calculate a percentage. Percentages are the part divided by the whole. So you will need to know how many data points do not overlap and how many data points you have. When setting up the equation, it is important that you sort and organize the data in a manner that will let you find any overlapping data points.
Step 1
Count the number of data points that do not overlap. For example, assume there are 10 pieces of data that do not overlap.
Step 2
Count all the data points. In the example, assume there are 20 pieces of data in all.
Step 3
Divide the non-overlapping data points by all the data points to calculate the percentage of non-overlapping data points. In the example, 10 divided by 20 equals 0.5. If you multiply this by 100, it will convert it into the percentage form of 50 percent.
