How To Calculate Time With 100 Minute Clock
Metric time is an alternative timekeeping system that uses 100 seconds per minute, 100 minutes per hour and 10 hours per day instead of the traditional 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour and 24 hours per day. You can convert metric time to the standard time equivalent with a little arithmetic, then carefully adjust minutes and seconds so they don't go over 59.
Step 1
Multiply the time by 2.4 to convert from metric hours to normal hours. For example, 7 metric hours would be equivalent to 16.8 regular hours. If the answer has a decimal, take just the decimal part and multiply it by 60 to get the number of regular minutes. For example, 16.8 minutes equals 16 hours and 48 minutes.
Step 2
Divide metric minutes by 1.44 to get regular minutes. For example, 36 metric minutes converts to 25 regular minutes.
Step 3
Add the minutes calculated in Step 1 to the minutes calculated from Step 2. If the result is greater than 59, subtract 60 from minutes and add one to the hours. For example, since 48 plus 25 is 73, hours increase by one to 17 and 73 minus 60 gives you 13 minutes.
Step 4
Subtract 12 from the number of hours if it is greater than 12, then add "p.m." after the time. For example, 17:13 becomes 5:13 p.m. If the hour is zero, use 12 instead and write "a.m." after the time. For example, 0:14 becomes 12:14 a.m.
