How To Convert Centimeters To Cubic Feet

Step 1

Learn what a centimeter measures, as opposed to cubic feet. There is no direct conversion from centimeters to cubic feet, because a centimeter measures length, while a cubic foot measures volume.

Step 2

Convert centimeters to cubic centimeters. You cannot do so directly, for the same reason stated above: Centimeters measure length and cubic centimeters measure volume. However, if you are measuring the dimensions of an area or a piece of an object in centimeters, multiplying them can yield the volume. For example, for a box that has dimensions of 2 cm, 2 cm and 2 cm, the volume would be 2 x 2 x 2 = 8 cubic cm.

Step 3

Convert cubic centimeters to cubic feet. A conversion table will show you that 1 cubic centimeter = 0.00003531466672 cubic feet. Therefore, in our example above, 8 cubic cm is equivalent to 0.002825173376 cubic feet.

Step 4

Round off your numbers to the nearest decimal. Do a carry-over and convert the numbers from right to left. You should end up with 0.003 cubic feet after you carry over 1.
