How To Convert GPM To KPPH

GPM stands for gallons per minute. The unit refers to the amount of liquid that is able to move through a unit in one minute. The most common use of GPM is on shower heads. Shower heads that are more environmentally friendly have a lower GPM output. Most water utility companies charge their customers in KPPH, or thousand pounds per hour. Therefore, it is useful to convert GPM to KPPH to help calculate water consumption.

Step 1

Multiply the gallons per minute value by 60. There are 60 minutes in one hour. The value is now in gallons per hour.

Step 2

Multiply the result from Step 1 by 8.33. One gallon of water weighs 8.33 lb. The value is now in pounds per hour.

Step 3

Divide the result from Step 2 by 1,000. The resulting value is now in thousand pounds per hour, or KPPH.
