How To Convert KBTU To BTU
BTU stands for British thermal units, which measures heat energy. Each BTU equals the amount of heat needed to raise one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit. The prefix "kilo-" stands for 1,000, which means that a KBTU equals 1,000 BTU. Using a calculator makes converting even easier.
Step 1
Enter the number of KBTU on your calculator. For example, if you have 3.2 KBTU, enter "3.2" on your calculator.
Step 2
Push the multiplication sign.
Step 3
Enter "1,000" because there are 1,000 BTU in every KBTU.
Step 4
Push the equals sign to have your calculator display the number of BTU equal to the original amount of KBTU. In this example, when you push the equals sign, your calculator should display "3,200."
