How To Calculate The Cut Off Marks For CBSE

Check your eligibility for admission to college or university by calculating your CBSE cut-off mark. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a body that monitors and controls courses and examinations for High School students across India. Each year, students are allocated a cut-off mark, calculated from their examination results, that is then used by colleges and universities as an indicator of potential success in their courses. The cut-off marks are used as part of the admission criteria and, as such, are important for students who wish to make applications for further study.

Step 1

Add together the marks for physics and chemistry. Divide the result by four.

Step 2

Divide the mathematics marks by two.

Step 3

Add the totals from step 1 and step 2 together to calculate the cut-off score. This can be used as an indicator for engineering-based courses. If a medical course is preferred, substitute biology marks for mathematics.
