Olympic hockey games consist of three 20-minute periods with two 15-minute intermissions. The men’s tournament includes 12 teams separated into three groups. The women’s tournament features eight teams broken down in two two groups. Teams face off in a round robin games, accumulating points for victories, which are used to determine seeding positions for the knockout stage. Teams then compete in quarterfinal, semifinal and final rounds to determine the medal winners. Canada is the top country in the all-time medals tally with 13 gold and 20 total.
